During my private intuitive training's, one of the first things we do is get the student into a neutral zone, where feelings and personality are aside, enabling them to gather the "data" from the field for their client or themselves. Often times I will receive data for myself that my personality may resist based on my subjective mind, but even then I can ask the field to explain why the information is what it is and it makes more sense calming my mind down. Again, intuition can be used as a dialogue to better understand, anything. It's not limited to a yes or no answer. As a matter of fact, I always conduct sessions that have context to the answers so you have a better understanding of why the information is coming through the way it is. Yes & no answers or telling you you're getting married and having 3 kids to a guy named James isn't very helpful if you're in love with a guy named John. ;) Here's what well known intuitive, Laura Day, had to say to an inquiry on feelings vs intuition.
